After extensive searching and thorough product testing, Firefly is proud to offer 99.9% pure, clean-burning Firefly Lamp Oil. You'll love the clean, smoke-free glow of Firefly's liquid paraffin oil in your hurricane lamps, marine lanterns and oil candles.
My lanterns are shining very happily. The product performs smartly, by producing a very steady flame. It will not smoke, even when the wick is raised too much. There is no flickering at all, unlike kerosene, which is affected by the slightest impurity, and my practice for many years, indicates that kerosene will lose potency when the lantern containing it, is left out in the open; Specially in hot regions, through evaporation, which seems to alter the composition of the kerosene to the point where it may not burn at all. My main reason for using Firefly paraffin fuel is that it is safe to use indoors, there is no smell; Certainly no detectable fumes or odor. I would recommend it also for the relative safety and security it offers, when lighting anything, indoors. The variety of lanterns I own, using a full one inch wick, used in my antique Dietz, Blizzard No 2, down to the 1/8" that my "continental" model lanterns use, all work very well with Firefly paraffin fuel. By the way, I saw Firefly fuel used to light oil lamps placed on guests tables, in a reception hall in Miami, Florida, to celebrate weddings and Sweet Sixteen parties. So I am now weaning my oil lantern collection from burning smelly and unsafe kerosene, and after replacing the old wicks, my lanterns now shine brightly with Firefly paraffin fuel. I most certainly recommend its use.
