About the Vintage Collection
True Americana elegance was the goal in creating the Vintage collection. The continual curves that extend from the tip of the handle to the base of the escutcheons and the thick, bulb-shaped anatomy result in a look that befits a subtle, glamorous design. Also included are levers with a porcelain coating to enable easier handling as well as a unique presentation when combining different finishes.
Installers beware! 3' riser may NOT be reversible!

All parts arrived well-packaged, in superb condition and with the correct finish and accessories. The mixing assembly is very solid and appears to be of high quality. Handles move smoothly and the cartridges do not leak.
Once you attach the handles, you may notice as I did that one or more are noticeably out of alignment relative to the faucet or riser. It's unclear whether this is a fault of the handles, of the cartridges, or of the assembly, but reseating the cartridges did not fix the alignment issue.
After installing the mixing assembly on your tub, be sure to do a test assembly from the tub filler all the way to the shower riser! Do NOT just install it part by part on top of the mixing assembly, or you may find it is IMPOSSIBLE to align your shower head, tub filler and shower valve! It is very important that each part be installed in the correct orientation so that when all joints are tightened, the valve, shower head and tub filler are properly aligned. If, when all joints are tightened, the head or valve are backwards or to one side, the valve AND/OR 3' riser may be upside-down. You will save so much grief and anguish by doing this beforehand rather than banging your head against an installed shower that is misaligned and/or leaking from the joints. Use the provided teflon tape every time you fit a threaded joint to make sure you can dissemble it if necessary, and if you're having trouble getting it loose, use a strap wrench to avoid destroying the finish. DO NOT USE any toothed wrench or pliers except with a thick rubber sheet to provide grip while protecting your finish!
The shower rod and braces are less sturdy than I would have liked. The escutcheons which hold the bracing rods resist torque in only one plane; these should have three or four screws rather than two. The plastic expansion anchors provided are completely inadequate, such that if you fall and grab the shower curtain, you could easily tear the braces out of your drywall. Replace them with stronger anchors before installing (ask at your local hardware store).
