Incandescent light bulbs are the most common type of bulb on the market. They are the original variation of electric lighting, and have been in use since the days of Edison. However, while the basic operation of these bulbs hasn’t changed drastically since then, incandescents have been honed and perfected, so that they now shine brighter and are much more energy efficient than in those times.

When it comes to the quality of light that they offer, this type of bulb provides consistent warm light that is easy on the eyes. Because of the way incandescents produce light by heating a filament, they don’t have any of the issues with inconsistent light or flickering that other types of bulbs can have. If you generally have difficulties with eye strain when reading or focusing, incandescent bulbs are the best choice to provide gentle illumination that won’t irritate your vision.

When selecting the right bulb for your needs, there are a range of different bulb wattages, sizes, and shapes to choose from. However, it is helpful to note that typically household lamps and fixtures use 60 W bulbs that are “type A” in shape. Other common shapes and sizes include candle bulbs (“type C”) for chandeliers and sconces, globe lightbulbs (“type G”) which are frequently used as vanity lights, and reflector bulbs (“type R”) which are used in flood lights and recessed lighting.

Both for safety and optimum functionality, always be sure to check fixtures before selecting bulbs to ensure that you are selecting a compatible size and wattage of bulb. However, if you ever have any questions about our products and their compatibility, you can always give us a call at 1-888-500-9541 to get quick and helpful assistance from our friendly customer care team. We’d love to help you find the perfect lighting for your space!
