The zombie craze rages on in pop culture and the constant exposure to the theme (including with this blog) has acted to create a kind of Zombie Zeitgeist, with the resulting cocktail party question being: What would you really do?

For most of us, the answer is pretty simple. Death. Horrible, terrifying death. But, some people will live! That’s the good news, and since we all naturally assume we’ll be among the lucky few, let’s focus on the positive.

So, we survived! Now what? Well, the first thing to do is find shelter. After that, besides food, water, clothing, a pallet of candles and a nice stack of books, what else would make waiting out the apocalypse a little easier?

1. A bed.

Waiting for zombies to lay down and die – or whatever it is they do when it’s quittin’ time – may put you on the sidelines for a good, long while. So, you may as well have somewhere comfy to post up and relax as the hurricane of evil rages.

2. A cooler.

Yeah, you might not have any ice, but it’s still good to have a cooler for food storage. A good cooler provides the kind of minimal insulation necessary to keep … ah, who are we kidding? You’ll be licking the inside of that cooler by the third week into it.

3. A solar generator (light permitting).

Gas is never guaranteed in an apocalypse, but if you’re lucky the sun will still come out every once in a while … at least until nuclear winter sets in. This is your time to live the good life! Take advantage of it by keeping a solar generator on hand to power your ... well ... whatever needs powering that will still work.

4. A charger radio.

Broadcast availability will likely be infrequent during the early stages of the conflict, but it will probably make you feel better to know that – if there is a message regarding the return of humanity – you won’t miss it because you’re the only survivor without a rechargeable radio.

5. A comfy chair.

On those days when the depression of possibly being the last person on Earth isn’t weighing you down too much and you manage to make it out of bed, you may want to have somewhere to sit and contemplate your total isolation. Hell, make it a recliner. You earned it.

6. A friggin’ sweet crossbow.

You’ve watched enough zombie TV shows to know this is the only way to go; silent, lethal … and with a name like “Shadow-Zone” you can feel as tough as you look.

7. A portable grill.

This is as much about functionality as it is about hope. Even if you run out of fuel to use it, it will still stand as a symbol of everything you loved about the world before the Four Horsemen galloped through it.

ATGStores.com wishes you luck fending off the unrelenting horde – kind of like on any other Monday.

You gotta keep your skills sharp and this glow-in-the-dark zombie target from United Cutlery will let you practice even after the lights go out - which will likely be often.

There's a good chance you may have to repair things here and there around your post-apocalyptic bungalow, and this universal tool set from Gedore has all the basics.
