Worst Father’s Day Gifts

Father's Day,Father's Day gifts,Happy Father's Day

Father's Day is right around the corner, which means a few of us may be stepping out to find something nice for the old man. And, statistically speaking, one or two poor souls are bound to fail miserably at the task.

There is no way to guarantee the perfect Father’s Day gift, of course, but there is a way to separate the good from the bad among the growing collection of stereotypical offerings that often rear their ugly heads on dads’ special day. Most dads (the good ones, anyway) are of the “it’s the thought that counts” stripe and this is an admirable quality to have, but buried somewhere deep down inside every dad is the recollection of the worst Father’s Day gift ever.

This is your chance to avoid replacing the current title holder. To do so, steer clear of these Dad's Day Dead Zones:

The working man’s leash captures the very essence of bad Father’s Day gift buying. Is there such a thing as a great tie? Absolutely! Is there such a thing as a great tie as a gift? No, not really, and this is an important distinction to make.

Pro Tip: If you want to run this gift-giving gauntlet by trying to pick a tie your guy will actually like, make sure you pair with it with something fun and not work-related … like anything besides a tie.

Hawaiian Shirts

The line between an amazing Hawaiian shirt and an absolutely horrific cabana-closet nightmare is so infinitesimally thin that you, as a gift buyer, can’t hope to find it. That puts you in the unfortunate position of buying beachwear that will very likely never see the sun. (Note: Does not apply to dads in Hawaii.)

Pro Tip: If you decide to roll the dice and find yourself in doubt, lean toward the most visually offensive thing you can find and go down swinging.

Golf Club(s)

Unless you know exactly which golf club is on dad’s personal wish list, avoid going down this manicured cart path. Nothing disappoints like the wrong club, even when it’s free and given with love. Don’t blame it on dad; blame it on the bourgeois golfer inside.

Pro Tip: Hook him up with some passes to his favorite course or a bucket of balls at the driving range instead.

ATGStores.com hopes all of you have a great Father’s Day and that the dad(s) in your life get a chance to enjoy whatever it might be that they like best … even if it’s a tie.

Every dad can use a multi-tool, if only for the purpose of making him feel cool and handy, and Gerber makes some of the best blades in the world.

Nothing makes a man feel manlier than bringing light into darkness, and with Smith & Wesson's tactical flashlight he can also bring the pain to any nighttime intruders and drug-crazed street toughs who might come calling.
