, a British morning daily in print since ’86, splashed its headlines today with news about the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency’s willingness to finally come clean about the existence of the mythical Area 51 testing facility in the Nevada desert – but is it really news?Well, kinda.Military historians, conspiracy theorists and “tailspotters” – hobbyists who faithfully monitor U.S. military airstrips and note aircraft FAA registry numbers – have long known that Area 51 existed in geography if not in name. That the government isn’t sharing secrets about terrestrial test programs is about as shocking as a bowl of soup, but it’s not beyond the realm of imagination that Americans could be unwittingly spending their tax dollars on extra
