Celebrity Reincarnation: Furniture Edition

Academy Awards

If Fate decided that celebrities had it too good in this life and had to come back as furniture in the next one, what would that look like? Would they return as the objects that at some point framed their good fortune?

As we gear up for Oscar Sunday, let's tweak reincarnation a bit to see which actors should be giving props to their props, and which one may be cursed forever.

  1. 1.       Daniel Day-Lewis = Rocking Chair

There’s just something about this man and rocking chairs. Not only does it somehow capture the artist’s talent as methodical and balanced, but he totally rocks rocking chairs. Whether sitting draped in the Stars and Stripes in Gangs of New York, or finding a moment of peace in Lincoln, Day-Lewis may actually skip reincarnation and morph into a rocking chair at any time.

  1. 2.      Jack Nicholson = Bed

Okay, so an actor who’s been on the screen since 1958 is going to share a few scenes with a bed, but he knows how to make them memorable. Just to name a few films that suggest he’ll be born again as a bed include One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (crazy in bed; lobotomized in bed), The Shining (breakfast in bed), Wolf (werewolf in bed), About Schmidt (backache in waterbed) and The Bucket List (dying, in several different beds).

  1. 3.      Ellen Page = Club Chair

Ellen Page is now deservedly well-known for great performances in several films, including Inception, wherein one could argue she spends the entire movie dreaming in a chair, but it all started with an ill-advised “in-chair” liaison with Michael Cera in the indie hit Juno. The chair affair that drives the plot is revisited several times in motif, most memorably when Page and co-star Olivia Thirlby move a different club chair in the middle of the night to prank Cera.

  1. 4.      Tom Cruise = Couch

Sorry, Maverick. You may have established one of the most prestigious legacies in filmdom, but wedged in between all those great movie moments will be the time you flipped out on Oprah and became the world’s first and forever most famous Crazy Couch Jumper.

ATGStores.com hopes you have a great Friday and that you enjoy the Academy Awards if they happen to be on your must-watch list.

Poised to win his third Best Actor Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, Daniel Day-Lewis is featured in this framed movie poster by Signature Royale as the title character in Lincoln, which leads the race with 12 other nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.

Signature Royale's framed poster features Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, a performance that earned him Best Actor at the 48th Academy Awards in 1976 in the second film at the time to win all five major Academy Awards, following the 1935 Oscar sweep by It Happened One Night
