Painting can be a messy affair and sometimes it’s hard to keep the color under control. It’s almost impossible to fully contain it, but there are a few tricks and tools you can use to reduce your chances of paint-splattered pandemonium.1. TapePainter’s tape is a must for any paint job. Sure, it adds an extra step in the process, but it can save you oodles of time in cleanup and/or repainting.2. BrushDon’t go cheap on your brushes. A good brush will hold the paint, which will keep it from going places it doesn’t belong – like the floor, or in your face.3. PlasticPlastic sheeting is good for protecting your floors, furnishings, fixtures and anything else in the area you’re painting. Be careful not to use it directly underfoot, though, as it can be slippery and cause accidents.4. Drop Cloth A drop cloth is good for protecting your floors while using a ladder. You can wind it through the legs of your ladder and if it happens to get caught under the legs it won’t be as slippery as plastic.5. Roller TrayEveryone throws out old roller trays, which is how so many people end up painting without them the second time around. Take the time to go get a new one. They’re cheap and really serve their purpose well.6. Old Clothes & HatKeeping paint off of your body will save you a lot of time in the shower. Keeping it out of your hair? That could save you even more time, as well as an unfortunate haircut.7. Paint Thinner / Soapy WaterYou’ll be a lot happier if you take care of paint spills and splashes quickly. Keep a bucket of cleaning agent nearby that will suit the fixtures and flooring you’re trying to protect so you can take care of accidents fast.Follow these seven tips and your next painting project will go much smoother, guaranteed.
