5 Reasons Why Printed Wall Art Rocks

A love and appreciation for art is a multifaceted existential quality; we first concern ourselves with how it looks, but we may also consider the artist, the meaning, the history and … its authenticity.

In the brave, new DIY world of Etsy, eBay and markets both farmer and flea, it’s easy to turn a blind eye toward the kind of framed, printed art that every mall store once displayed for sale, whether said store specialized in candles or car parts.

But, to do so would mean missing out on what still makes these prints great.

1. Affordability (Especially During Cyber Week)

Art is often expensive, which can have a chilling effect on would-be appreciators because owning it is, ultimately, a luxury. The world is full of art we don’t have to buy, which makes it easier to spend those dollars elsewhere.

Printed wall art, though, remains fairly accessible - especially during big sales like Cyber Week. Sure, there are pricey prints to be had, but there are also really affordable pieces, too.

2. Variety

In practice, we can say there is no end to the amount and kind of printed art available, because you'll get tired of looking before you exhaust your options. There is literally that much art out there.

Just name a thing and you can find the theme in printed art. Random octopus in triptych? Done. Homer Simpson and Krusty the Clown? On canvas? No problem.

3. Quality

This isn’t so much about a guarantee of quality as it is the ability to understand what level of quality you’re getting. Most art prints are accompanied by a description that explains their manufacture.

For the best quality, look for prints that use acid-free archival stock, which results in a more long-lasting print that will retain its lines and color.

4. Framing

For reasons beyond the understanding of any mortal human, having art professionally framed is incredibly expensive. As such, it rarely makes sense to pay $300 to frame a print that costs a fraction of that price.

Printed art offers huge savings in this area, because you can find many options that are already framed.

5. History & Fame

There are good reasons to support the real artists who live among us; the people who struggle to add beauty to our lives through their work. And, that is a wondrous thing.

But, by default, none of those people are Vincent van Gogh, and maybe you happen to like van Gogh. And, unless you’ve had a lot of luck in life, then a print will have to do.
