Drop in bathroom sinks, sometimes also referred to as self-rimming or overmount sinks, are a specific design of sink that is installed in a pre-cut hole in a vanity by carefully dropping it in from above. This makes it so that the sink sits below the counter, but supports itself with its raised edge or rim on top. This style is in contrast to vessel and undermount sink designs, which respectively sit entirely above and completely below the countertop. The drop in sink is the most popular option in terms of sink installations because of its easy set up and manageable price point. An overmount sink also has the added benefit of leaving a lot of room for interesting design details to be exposed above the counter, while the majority of the piece still stays nicely tucked away.

Just because a sink comes ready for a simple drop in install does not mean that the design of the sink has to be in any way simple. There is a very large variety of drop in sinks in terms of size, shape, material, and style. From a small drop in sink for a conservatively sized powder room, to single piece side by side sinks for larger restrooms, there are scaled varieties to fit any bath. And the shapes of drop in sinks go far beyond the traditional oval shaped bathroom sink. We carry hexagonal, rectangular, round, and square drop in sinks in addition to a huge variety of oval options. All of these shapes come in a range of styles and materials including smooth and hammered copper, gleaming nickel designs, understated pewter patinas, and multiple colors and various designs of ceramic. From shell motifs and scalloped edges, to intricate scrollwork or sculptural details, overmount sinks come in designs of all kinds.
