About Carrier & Company

Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller, the principals of Carrier and Company Interiors, are a husband-and-wife duo who create rooms that are a confident mix of timeless and contemporary design - both familiar and fresh at once. They've attracted the attention and loyalty of luminaries such as Anna Wintour, Jessica Chastain, Annie Leibovitz, Jane Rosenthal, Catie and Donald Marron, and Jessica and Jerry Seinfeld, among others.

Jesse and Mara write of their approach (which is beautifully illustrated in their book "Carrier and Company: Positively Chic Interiors"): "Decorating is, and always has been, all about the mix. Unexpected choices in scale, material or placement, a daring use of bold color or finish, may arrest the eye and stop time."

We've chosen them for 52 Weeks of Design because their mastery of the mix never ceases to inspire us.

"Our style is a balance of classic decorating principals, artful placement and utility. We often reference traditional upholstery forms and classic furniture plans, but edit to make the interiors current and effortless. We let furniture and decorating schemes evolve around a secret narrative, or build off of one key idea or item, knowing the narrative will make the mix cohesive."
