There were missing screws for the lights. The swivel conection to aim the light will not hold up the light. The screws are too short and will not secure the contections tight enought to maintain the setting of the light. The looks of the light is great but it does not function so I would not buy this light again.
Purchased for lighting my 20 Ft Brushed Aluminum Flagpole, topped with gold Eagle on Ball ornament, Flying American Flag and US Army Flag... I put a GE90 Spot (Not Flood) bulb in this unit and it exceeds my expectations. Neighbors extend compliments and one said it looks "majestic" at night.
Well made, we like the verde green...perfect for our mid century home. One caution ..they get hot! These replaced the same ones that were over 30 years old. We were glad to find that this simple, well designed light fixture (flood & spot) were still being made and for such a affordable price. I think them very sturdy and well constructed. I will continue to buy more as needed.
How would you rank the quality of instructions and ease of installation/set-up?
We have eight of these sconces installed, and within 2 years two of them had snapped off at the stem (i.e., the threaded part shown in the picture). Apparently, the material used for the stem corrodes and becomes brittle fairly quickly. And since the stem is a molded piece with the housing portion coupled with a screw, you can't just buy a dual-threaded shaft to replace the stem, but you actually need to replace the whole housing portion.
So, I called the manufacturer to buy new housing portions with stems, but they told me that they don't sell those separately and it would be easier to just buy a new sconce altogether. They recognized that there was a problem with the stem and I certainly wasn't the first to report this issue. At least two of my neighbors that have the same sconces have stems that have snapped and/or crumbled.
So, I ended up buying two new sconces, which aren't all that expensive, but I have to throw away the other sconces when it's just a tiny part that broke on each. One more thing. The set screw that holds the window piece on corrodes super easy also. I had to break the old sconces with a hammer to get the light bulbs out of them. So, when the light bulbs on my remaining 6 sconces go out, I'll probably have to take a hammer to them also. No, WD-40 didn't help the set screws.
