Willie Mays Autographed 'The Catch' Photograph
Widely considered to be the greatest center fielder of all-time, Willie Mays played the majority of his career with the NY Mets and then the San Francisco Giants. During his career, the "Say Hey Kid" won two NL MVP awards and appeared in the All-Star Game a record 24 times. Voted the 1951 Rookie of the Year, Mays' career is decorated with awards including 12 Gold Gloves, two All-Star Game MVPs, 1971 Roberto Clemente Award, and a place on the MLB All-Century Team. A member of the 1954 World Champion Giants, his number 24 was retired by the club and he is a 1979 Inductee to the Hall of Fame.
Mays accomplished some incredible things throughout his career, but is perhaps remembered most for his seemingly impossible catch of Vic Wertz's drive to center field in the first game of the 1954 World Series. Mays has hand signed this photograph of that legendary catch, which he made on Sept. 29, 1954.
