I am on t he board of my home owners association and prior to making this purchase, I did an extensive search of 30+ lighting companies on the Internet for lanterns that met the following criteria: Price ($50 - $150), opaque glass, energy efficiency, weather tolerance, size, drainage, and style. I found two that met all the criteria and ordered both for the board to compare. We like the style of the other lantern, but chose the Capella because it was larger, and didn't take a special light bulb.
My husband installed all 19 lanterns and didn't have a single problem. The lanterns look great in our park and put out more than enough light using a 13 watt spiral, florescent bulb. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.
Also, Lighting Universe has great customer service and communication. We give the them and the product an A+.

Review of 2866 - 19.25" Height Capella Post Lantern
I like the design and the fact that the glass is frosted so one doesn't see the glare of a bare bulb glowing at night.
The design allows bugs and insects to find their way inside the enclosure - not something one should have to hassle with. Also, the top is affixed to the base of the lamp by two screws mounted on the top, making it awkward to replace the bulb.
I had the problem of bulbs burning out every few days; I checked the a.c. voltage to the light and the reading was within tolerance: 122-3 volts so this was not the culprit. After e-mails back and forth with customer service and the manufacturer, the solution was for me to turn off the power and insure the prong in the the center of the socket was bent upward enough to make good contact with the bulb "foot" otherwise there would be arcing causing the bulb to burnout. After making the suggested fix, the replaced light bulb (new) burned out within a week. Also, screwing the bulb into the socket was difficult because the male threads of the bulb did not match up properly with the female screw threads of the socket. I believe this was a manufacturing quality control problem with the socket itself. This (my) lantern was defective while others received theirs defect free, thus my comment, "Why me?" After a few more e-mails, I was given a return authorization to get a refund.
Customer Care at ATG were very cordial and were committed to insuring customer satisfaction
We love our new post lantern piece that we purchased in August 2009. The quality is nice, it gives off just the right amount of light and the Lighting Universe customer service answered all of my questions that I had before ordering this fine piece. What a nice addition to our 1960's remodeled home!
This is a very attractive light and was so easy to assemble. It is very bright and just what we hoped it would be..... very happy with it and the cost was great for the quality. I recommend it to anyone who needs an outside light.
The products came promplty, the quality is very good, the price very affordable. I wanted something unique to go on top of antique posts and this company had a lot to choose from. I just typed in light posts in google and this company was easy to navigate around. I'm glad I choose them.
