I purchased 3 of these lamps for my patio about a year and a half ago. I should have taken the first hint that these don't hold up when I received them in the mail. Two of the three lamps were broken. I assumed it was a shipping problem, and ATG was gracious enough to replace them immediately. I received the two replacements and one was broken, one arrived in good condition. Again, ATG convinced me this was a shipping issue. I installed the lamps in May of 2013. By the following spring, around March 2014, one of the lamps was broken near the base. The best I could tell was that the wind blew it over! I don't have trees near the patio and in March there were no people on or around the patio (too cold!). I called to discuss a warranty replacement and they informed me that wind is an act of god and is not covered. Yes, wind will break your lamp and that's not covered. Fast forward to today (October 2014) and the other two lamps also suffered the same fate. Wind has broken them both. I'm no expert, but it appears the aluminum near the base is just too thin to support the strain. I live in Rochester, NY, not exactly known for high winds. So again, I would STRONGLY recommend against these lamps if you plan on using them outdoors. I am out 3 lamps with no warranty coverage. What a waste!!
