I bought two similar lamps. Both had poor paint and both had damage where the shade is attached to the stem. However, the damage probably came from the over-seas shipping since the boxes were fine. Damage was not visible until the lamps were unpacked. Overall quality is poor. Materials used were flimsy. I would not recommend.
The subject light fixture has met our expectations and works very well for the application we have used it in. We feel the purchase represents a good value and is what we were looking for to finish off our new exterior painting project. We would source Lighting Universe to look for fixtures again.
This light is good for the right location. Its paper thin and entirely too weak for an area that it could come in contact with people or moving objects. However I used 3 of them on a 1893 Victorian builiding where they were elevated and protected by a carriage house overhang. Look substantial and do the job perfectly. The socket is tucked in nicely so you can never see the bulb (regular or florecent) and it spreads the light evenly. Best deal I could have found for what I was looking for.
We were looking for this exact type of outdoor fixture, but could not find it for less that $100. Then we saw this one and bought it, but it may not hold up. It is rather flimsy for high winds like we have in the high desert, which is where we installed it. If you want it for regular outside use where there is no wind, it is perfect for the price we paid.
