The finish is really just flat brown, probably powdercoated. They are difficult to adjust because the bottom screw goes through a fixed hole in the mounting plate. It would have been more convenient to use set screws on both the top and bottom and put a lip on the mounting plate. At $40 dollars a piece they are quite expensive considering their construction.
I purchased a pair of the foe silver for a patio door. They look great, were easy to install and give off great lighting. The only think I wish someone would make is a light like this but actually is real brushed alum, or stainless steel versus.
