I got this to control floodlights on my garage because there was no easy way to get a switch for it in the house.
My garage is around 50' from the house and the remote works. I had to run some extra wire off of the antenna lead to help with the reception (the remote was really finicky without it), but I suspect it was not so much the distance as the heavy corrugated metal siding on my garage.
I'd recommend this product. The reception distance is a lot greater than any other I've found, and this seems to be very good quality.
Note: there's not a lot of room inside the switch box for wiring (because the receiver is very big). You can make the switch and everything fit just fine, However, you can't really fit any other wiring with it. My original switch box ran power out to other lights, so I had to add another box for a junction and keep the switch in a box by itself. Not a big deal to do obviously, just something to be aware of if you're looking at this.
This product is the perfect solution for adding ceiling tract lights to an existing structure without fishing wires through the walls for a switch. I mounted the switch unit in an out of the way spot in another part of the house. No fuss. No mess. No re-plastering and painting. Just sit back and click the magic clicker. The only issue was a dead battery in the transmitter; a bit annoying but stuff happens.
I installed this remote light switch in my boat house. Many times I must come and go in darkness or low light conditions. Rather than leave light on, I can now activate the lights as I approach the boat stalls. It's especially good when guests are along. The systems works great!
We use this in our master bedroom. We have spotlights that light up the patio area off our bedroom. It works great. The dimming feature is a big plus. You can see the switch and on the radio you can see how small the remote is. It works from way across the room.We would recommend this to everyone.
