When you find time in your busy schedule to sit and play the piano, the last thing you need is for your keys or sheet music to be left in the dark. With a piano lamp, you can be sure to see every stanza while adding style and functionality to your home.

When choosing a piano lamp, some factors to consider are what type of base you would like it to have, what tone of light you would prefer, and how tall you need it to be. Piano lights come with two main types of bases: either a standard flat base that can sit directly on a surface or with a clamp base that can clip to the music stand or lid of the piano. The choice of base is mainly user preference, however a clamp base may be the best option for some grand pianos that might not have space to set a lamp with a standard base. The tone of light that is emitted is reliant on the type of bulb that the lamp uses. Some models of piano lamps are designed to use LED lights rather than the standard incandescent. An incandescent bulb typically emanates a warmer light with light orange undertones, while an LED may produce a whiter light. Also, while LED bulbs are more expensive than incandescent bulbs, they last much longer, so they save money in the long run. But in the end, LED and incandescent piano lamps are equally functional, so the choice can be left to your personal preference. The height of the lamp, however, is a matter of utility. There are various heights of piano lights to accommodate different designs of piano music stands, and if you aren’t sure about proportions, it can be important to measure your music stand to ensure that the light will rise over it, rather than be hidden behind it.
