These Granite knobs and pulls are made from ground glass called frit. Two colors are selected and mixed in specific proportions. A 20"x20" square is set up in a kiln, the frit is mixed, then spread out over the 20x20 area and raised in temperature to about 1,450°F. After cooling the 20x20 slab of glass is placed into a waterjet and the knobs and pulls are cut out. The cut pieces are placed back into a kiln “fire” polished at about 1300°F.
