Door closers are devices that are mounted on standard doors to help ensure that they aren’t left open when not in use. These pieces of hardware can help keep your home or business safe by ensuring that doors are only open when they should be, and serve as a deterrent against uninvited entry. Door closers are also a safety measure required by some building regulations to keep fire doors closed. This can help to seal off an area of a larger building or facility, preventing a fire from spreading as quickly. In addition to their value as security features, door closers can also help save you money by ensuring that climate control such as heating or air conditioning does not go to waste due to forgetful people leaving doors open.

There are a few different types of door closers to choose from in terms of mechanics. Some of the most popular designs include pneumatic, hydraulic, and spring models. The pneumatic and hydraulic models make use of pressurized air and oil filled dampers (respectively), to use the energy used to open the door to then close it again, but with slight resistance so that it closes softly rather than slamming shut. Spring door closers use a much more basic system of tension control by having the spring attached to both the door and the doorframe. This causes the door to quickly close itself after the person using it lets go. Door springs have the advantage of being far less expensive than hydraulic or pneumatic door closers, however, they do offer a less controlled closing mechanism, so many opt for slightly more upscale models. For added convenience and accessibility, we also carry a few fully automatic options as well. These automatic door openers and closers can function either with a gentle nudge, the push of a button, or even when sensing motion approaching.
