Roomy Greenhouse With Curb Appeal
By Aaron L. from Manchester, NH on Aug 14, 2014
Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
We had been looking for a solid greenhouse for years that has curb appeal and could be a permanent fixture.

The unit arrives on a pallet and weights about 220LBS. The pallet consists of two boxes – one is all of the plastic and one is all of the metal and hardware.
We had one piece mislabeled and called the company and the are shipping us the part – no hassle – thankfully it was a roof part so it didn’t completely leave us at a standstill.
We built a patio to place the greenhouse on for additional appeal and durability.

Tips:
-Make sure the surface you are placing this on is level.
-Make sure the unit is square and then bolt or pin it down.
-Follow the directions, if you take anything from this review… take your time, after you are done with a step review it again.. there are steps where you are leaving extra screws for later, skipping these steps will require significant work to unassembled parts. I would see these steps and think… why do they want me to do this? Then later I understood.
-Make sure the doors are square – I spend a lot of time on door adjustment and come to find out my doors were not square.
-Pick a day that is not hot and sunny – remember you will be working in a greenhouse. One of the earlier steps is putting up the sides and the heat begins to reflect.
-Plan on two entire days – most work can be done alone but help is always good.

The Pro’s:
-This greenhouse really is beautiful, roomy, open and bright. Its charcoal colored metal is appealing.
-You CAN assemble about 95% of this alone.
-This unit has roof vents that open and close.
-This unit is well engineered for the most part. There was a lot of thought that went into some of these parts that do make some of the assembly process easier. Everything is a common theme of slide and lock screws (a massive bag of them). The concept is smart.
-The parts are labeled well, the directions are simplified.
-The accessories like the plant hangers and the shelving are nice, fit well in the sell designed unit.

The Con’s:
-Assembly is PAINFUL. I am a do it yourselfer and relatively handy and this unit took two SOLID days (at least). The directions say two people and a half a day to complete – this is not possible unless you have built one before. I had help when I needed it and help for half of one day, but for the most part I assembled this myself. I think two people would have gotten in each others way.
-Assembly – there are no two parts together, you assemble EVERYTHING, including putting gaskets into windows and doors. Building windows and doors etc. This is where I feel this piece loses a little bit of the value.
-The doors do not seal well. Light comes through the bottom and there is about a half inch gap. I have made some adjustments but I don’t think it is possible to make that gap go away. This could be a challenge when heating the unit to extend the season. The doors also appear flimsy and weak.
-The roof vents don’t sit as well as I had hoped, they are very light weight – I will continue to look for ways to adjust these and they are handy to have.
-The greenhouse leaks like crazy! The very center of the roof leaks water badly when it rains, and the two front corners do as well. I think this will be an easy fix with some caulking and sealer but this should have been part of the set up process to fix the roof now will require some disassembly. There was some direction to caulk the front corners but apparently I did not put enough down – these leak the worst. There is also leaking around the sides along the bottom where there are holes for a plastic part that holds in the panels.
-Although the unit appears relatively durable I am leery about New England winters and heavy winds. I have not been able to find the wind resistance on this unit. It’s too early to say but that is a concern.
-I watched videos on this greenhouse before purchasing and was interested by the polycarbonate panels being able to stop a bullet (the company put out this video showing a man shooting a panel and the bullet stopping in the panel). The panel in the video must have been a thick piece of plastic. The ones with the greenhouse are think and creaky. I am sure they will hold up fine but my expectations were set high on these….
