A component cabinet is a storage solution designed to contain electrical components such a stereo system or television along with all their cords and accessories. A component cabinet will frequently have strategically placed slots or holes in the back panel of the piece so that cords and cables can be run to the electronics inside. In addition to keeping the electronics under wraps, many cabinets also have room to stow CDs, DVDs, video games, or other media. Component cabinets are also frequently referred to as media cabinets, media towers, or TV stands, depending on the shape and use of the particular piece.

When choosing a component cabinet for your space, some aspects to consider include how much storage you need, how much space you have to work with, and whether you want an open front for easy access or something that conceals your electronics for a clean appearance. Storage is an important aspect as it is obviously the primary function of a component cabinet. However, depending on your space, you may be more interested in different configurations of storage spaces to preserve both aesthetics and functionality. For example, shelves might be preferable for more decorative items or objects that are uniform in appearance, such as a row of CDs, while drawers or closing cabinets might be a good choice for less decorative things, as these options have the utilitarian ability to conceal clutter. Size is clearly a consideration just because of space limitations, however, that doesn’t mean you necessarily have to settle for a small component cabinet. If you find yourself short of floor space, you can always opt for a selection that utilizes vertical space. Taller shelves can store far more and can keep a room from looking over crowded. ATGStores.com carries component cabinets a wide range of sizes and styles from large wood construction media cabinets to small wire frame game console stands. So, no matter what sort of space you are working with, you are sure to find a component cabinet that works for you.
