Is brushed steel similar to brushed nickel?
Brushed steel and brushed nickel have similar surface qualities however, the the steel would appear more blue than nickel because of the metal themselves.

"Stainless Steel" Supra Ceiling Fan
By Lesley K. from South Bend, IN on Oct 21, 2008
This is a nice looking fan, but be aware that the blades are spray-painted a stainless steel gray color. It's really more gray than metal-looking. The color does match the metal base and fixture; I was just expecting something else when I opened the box. I suppose real steel blades might be somewhat disturbing, so in the end it will work considering the fan will hang a substantial distance away from eye-level.

Well satisfied

Assembled and installed the fan easily and quickly. Fan runs silently and the light provides sufficient light to work by in the kitchen. I am running off a single switch and wired the fan so that the light comes on with the wall switch and the fan with the pull chain. The light kit extends the fan to 15 and 1/2 inch from the ceiling putting it a bit lower than I would have liked but the fan and light are over a center island and do not pose a hazard or inconvenience. The fan does a good job of cooling the kitchen and takes a strain off the heat pump/air conditioner when cooking in hot weather. We have had several 95 degree days subsequent to installation. The price was exceptional for this unit.

Fan of this fan

This fan is absolutely amazing!

Although there is no remote for it (which is to be expected with such a low price) this is one of the quietest ceiling fans I have ever purchased.

It has both winter and summer modes and runs very smooth.

Installation takes about an hour, it is easier with 2 people, but not required. Installation time includes removal of old fan.

The light is super bright.

All in all an excellent product at an excellent price.

I love my fan.
By Beverly J. V. from Washington, DC on Jun 27, 2011

I was looking for a fan that was not too large and economical with a nice design. That is what I found with the Supra Ceiling Fan. The price was right for my budget, it's a simple yet elegant design (everyone that sees it is very complimentary), and it stays cool in my room even though I keep in on the lowest speed.

Way too complicated to install.
By Micah S. from Bethesda, MD on Jan 27, 2011

I am good technically and with home improvement, but installing this ceiling fan was a pain in the neck. Small screws to be screwed in with little space for your fingers, poor instructions, etc.

Reasonably satisfied

The product per se is manufactired with quality and works pretty well. It's really quiet, too.

Installation took a lot of time, but the instructions in the manual were good.

One problem was that product description supplied on the web site stated that the lighting kit accepts plain regular vanilla light bulb, implying that you should be able to use an energy-saving CFL bulb instead -- which was the single reason I bought this fan and not some other. And in reality it takes a special halogen bulb (supplied), which works great in all respects except that it is not saving you electricity. The problem is with the labeling in the web catalog though, not with the product itself. Once you get over it, it works pretty well.
