Do any of the caged bird feeders allow cardinals?
ATG Stores Answer
The caged bird feeders are intended to keep larger birds out. We suggest an open bird feeder for cardinals.

Adieu Starlings and Jays
By Judith L. from Cosmopolis, WA on May 25, 2010
Our smaller birds feed like crazy, once they are brave enough to enter the "cage." It is their safe place to feed. The larger birds sit on the post & wonder how their friends do it. They try to hang on the wires and stick their beaks in and then give up and are happy cleaning up the ground spills. Great feeder!

Bye squirrel

This feeder seems to be doing the trick. The squirrel still tries but it holds him off the goodies.

Good product that does what it claims.

No assembly required other than a little tab that I did not know what to do with. We put it where we imagined that it would go but it is gone now, somehow. It seems to be fine without it. This feeder keeps the bullies out.

Required Some Tweaking

Packaging seemed appropriate but for some reason the top cover, not the fill lid, was not connected properly. If I recall there are 4 clips that hold the cover on. Two of the clips were bent and required an adjustment before the cover would attach correctly. I would recommend caution in bending these as they are thin metal and I would expect they would break easily with too much bending. Without any damage to the packaging, I suspect this was an assembly issue. Anyway, to date, it has frustrated blue jays while allowing smaller birds a place to eat. I have not observed any squirrels on it yet most likely because there is another feeder further from the house. I did observe that Flickers can stretch their necks in far enough the cage to feed. I mounted this temporarily on a 3/4"x12" PVC nipple. The threaded end fits nicely into the mount beneath the feeder which is NOT threaded but holds securely because of the thread taper. Then I attached the nipple to a T post with two hose clamps. All in all, I am pleased and believe good value at about $51 delivered. Product is imported.

WoodLink WLC6S Caged 6-Port Seed Tube Bird FeederTitle Here

The bird feeder looks and works as advertised. So far the squirrels have not found their way into the feeder. The current unknown is how it will hold up over time in the New England weather .

Feeder
By bonnie p. from Columbia City, IN on Jun 30, 2014
Casual Do-It-Yourselfer
I have had my feeder hanging since the last day of April and I have only seen 2 birds that were brave enough to
feed inside the cage area. The seed in the tube has only gone down about 2 inches and that tells me the birds are not going to use it. I even moved it to another part of the yard and have not seen any difference. It was a lot of money with no benefits.
The quality is good
I will keep it hanging hoping for better results in the near future.

Good Product
By Sharon P. from Stockton, NJ on Dec 28, 2012

This bird feeder is truly squirrel proof! They can't reach the seed ports, nor can they defeat the locking mechanism at the top of the seed container. The fact that most of the product is made of steel also prevents them from eating through the feeder.
Our birds adapted to this feeder very quickly. We appreciate the fact that it holds a substantial quantity of sunflower seeds,so you don't have to refill it so frequently.
The design of this feeder also allows the residue and bird droppings to fall through the open bottom, rather than collecting in a messy tray.
