Product Description

Squirrel Resistant Suet Palace Feeder

When the suet compartment metal plate is in place, the Suet Palace keeps squirrels, pesky starlings and grackles from eating the suet. When it is hung high from the ground, grackles and starlings don't often feed at this style of feeder so you can take the plate out and they will still feed.

  • Large woodpeckers like flickers, sapsuckers, red headed, red bellied, and even pileated woodpeckers can hang from the bottom and feed
  • Holes on the sides are 1.5" x 1.5"
  • Holes on the bottom are 0.5" x 0.5"

Bird Feeder Design
Though the main purpose of a bird feeder is to provide an enjoyable place for your local birds to feast, the design of the bird feeder is your chance to select what is most aesthetically pleasing to you. There are decorative options with more elaborate details and themes, or simple bird feeders if you prefer a more basic design.

Chain attachment is the "weak link"
By Noreene from Maryland on Sep 11, 2014
The concept of a squirrel-proof feeder is good: the squirrels can't get at it and the little birds love it. BUT -- the squirrels were so persistent that they broke the links connecting the chain to the feeder. (Though they still were unable to access the suet inside.) I had to spend over $14 at the hardware store to buy sturdier bolts to attach to the feeder, new sturdy links to attach the bolts to the chain, and a new chain (because the links in the old chain were now too small for even the smallest link I could buy). I only have had the feeder for about 2 months, so it wasn't the age of the feeder, it was just not strong enough to withstand the squirrels.

Good product

I did my research and thought this was the best suet option. It took a couple days for the smaller birds to venture inside to get the suet but are now regular visitors. I love watching them!
However, I was surprised & disappointed to find that the crows & blackbirds could poke their heads through the outer cage & get to the suet with their long beaks.

Birds Won''t Enter the Cage
By Your Name from Montana on Jul 10, 2014
Casual Do-It-Yourselfer
Concept looks great. I have tried many ways to keep magpies off the suet. The cage is well built, but small birds simply won't enter. We have multiple feeders and plenty of birds who love suet. But they just won't enter the feeder. So give this idea a pass.
