The Badger Basket Company got its start in 1911 when it was known as the Edgar Veneer & Mfg. Company. In 1912 it was sold to Eugene and Albert Erny and by 1918, the company's name changed to Edgar Basket and Manufacturing Company. The company began manufacturing veneer-covered, woven baskets and was quite successful. The Ernys sold the company in 1939, and it was repurchased in 1944 by Elenor and William Erny and renamed the Standard Container Company.
